Jackson Academy is an independent day school in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, helping students reach their highest potential and succeed through their college years and beyond.
In 1959, Loyal Bearss made a bold move. Convinced that phonics, in-depth reading, time for play, and exploration of the arts all contributed to stronger student success, the teacher and ten area families founded JA. It’s a spirit of innovation in education that still lives in us today. JA has forever changed the landscape of education in Jackson — providing a place for children to discover their unique set of talents and understand how those talents will drive life choices.
