As the sun rose on the first day of school, excitement filled the air at Jackson Academy. The senior class marked its “Last First Day” with a special parade from Raider Park to the senior parking lot. Wearing their distinctive senior shirts, the seniors celebrated this milestone moment with socialization and photos to capture this memory.

The morning continued with a Senior Prayer Breakfast where Head of School Palmer Kennedy offered a moving devotion. His message encouraged seniors to step beyond their comfort zones, be kind, and actively support those around them. The spirit of the message was palpable as students reflected on the importance of empathy and community.

Following the breakfast, the entire Upper School gathered in the PAC for the Student Convocation. Student Body President James Chapman delivered a powerful address, offering tailored advice to each grade level. To freshmen, he urged seizing every opportunity and cherishing these formative years. Sophomores were encouraged to focus on their studies and embrace new challenges, including transitioning into varsity sports. Juniors were reminded of the demands of their year and advised to utilize available resources. For the seniors, James emphasized savoring every moment and making the most of their final year.

Student Body Chaplain Thomas Blanks followed with an inspiring talk on this year’s chapel theme: “Love God, Love Others,” derived from Matthew 22:34-40. His reading and reflection on this passage set a spiritual tone for the year, emphasizing the core values that will guide our community.

The day’s events were a perfect blend of celebration, reflection, and inspiration, setting a positive tone for the school year ahead. As the seniors embark on their final year at JA, they do so with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to living out the values of kindness and community. Here’s to a memorable year filled with growth, connection, and achievement!
