Middle School Counseling

Our Middle School Counseling services are designed specifically toward the unique needs of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.

Although Middle School students are in the process of becoming young adults, in many respects they are still very much children. With this in mind, the Middle School counselor and staff begin Middle School with a thorough orientation program designed to familiarize both students and their parents with the campus, faculty, and curriculum.

In addition, the Middle School counselor administers and coordinates the following:

  • Social Emotional Counseling: Individual, Group, Family.
  • Provides outside counseling referrals as requested/needed by families.
  • Academic Counseling and Course Selection Requests throughout the year; responsible for updating and changing schedules as needed.
  • Scheduling for all 6-8 grade new and current students.
  • Emergency Management (Securly, etc.)
  • Admissions Assistance (Tours, Shadow Days, New Student Orientation, Point of contact for all new Middle School families)
  • Spiritual Growth (Organization and Execution of Weekly Middle School Bible Study)
  • Coordinates and participates in academic meetings with parents and teachers, assists with intervention when needed. Helps monitor student’s academic progress throughout the year.
  • Honors Course Selection and Placement for Rising 7th-9th Graders
  • Standardized Testing for: ERB (6th and 7th), PSAT 8/9 (8th), PREACT 8/9 (8th)
  • Middle School and Schoolwide Events: Awards Day, NJHS, Next Steps for Rising 6th and 9th grades, Parent Informational Nights, etc.
