It is said that centuries ago King Frederick II of Prussia referred to dogs as the best, most loyal friend a person could have. That devotion to canines was prevalent on JA’s campus Monday as fourth graders celebrated National Dog Day. Teachers created a dynamic day of learning that reinforced reading, writing, presenting, researching, drawing, and forming opinions, all in celebration of four-legged friends.
The Gallery of the Performing Arts Center was abuzz Monday with students signing up for roles in their areas of interest. The annual Club Fair is a way for students to learn about organizations they want to join – whether it is Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Chess Club, Interact Club or Outdoor Recreation Club. Each club had a booth with members of the club telling students about the club’s purpose and activities.
Jackson Academy is thrilled to welcome our new families this year. The Annual New Family Tailgate was the perfect way to celebrate before the football game on Friday evening. Families enjoyed refreshments and games together prior to kick off of the first home football game of the season. Whether you’re a sports fan or just love good food and great company, a tailgate party is always fun!
Last Friday, the Jackson Academy Raider Dome was transformed into a whirlwind of energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit at the first football pep rally of the year. With the Raiders gearing up for their road game against Bayou Academy, the gymnasium was packed with students, teachers, fans, and coaches ready to stand unified with the team.
With input from students, faculty, and administrators, Jackson Academy made several changes to the cell phone and wearable technology policy for the 2024-2025 school year.
On Saturday, August 10, 38 JA seniors served at We Will Go Ministries Food Pantry during Senior Service Day. Head of Upper School Kyle Nichols and his two-year old son, and faculty members Theresa Berman, Gloria Hirn, and Susan Ingram and several senior parents joined in serving food to 100 neighbors in need in downtown Jackson.
As the sun rose on the first day of school, excitement filled the air at Jackson Academy. The senior class marked its “Last First Day” with a special parade from Raider Park to the senior parking lot. Wearing their distinctive senior shirts, the seniors celebrated this milestone moment with socialization and photos to capture this memory.
Each year, the Jackson Academy Association opens the new school year with a festive event for parents, faculty, and staff. A Blue & White Night was held Saturday, August 10, at the Country Club of Jackson.
As summer closed, faculty and staff gathered on campus, attending sessions to sharpen their knowledge and skills and to learn about changes for the school year.
