Parents Shadow Band Members

Learning how to play an instrument beautifully or twirl and toss a flag or rifle–while following marching patterns without colliding with other participants–are skills developed during band practice. Recently, Jackson Academy band parents shadowed their children to learn just how challenging these tasks can be.

JA Student to Compete in Kentucky this Month

Growing up with a grandfather who is a veterinarian and a mom who manages the veterinary office, Jackson Academy senior Ann Cole Hammons is accustomed to being around animals. She rode horses and competed for several years. A JA student since K3, she began to show animals through the Mississippi 4-H program and is now in her tenth year as a competitor.

2022 Art Competition Winners

JA student artists submitted their work to the 2022 Art Competition. Winners were recognized Sunday, October 16 in the Performing Arts Center. Fifty-four pieces of amazing talent, creativity, and imagination were submitted.

Teachers at Jackson Academy are not only helping their students learn; they are also learning from one another. JA offers Upper and Middle School teachers monthly programs called Teacher Tidbits, which are after-school professional development sessions where teachers hone their skills or gain new information.

Apple, Inc. notified Jackson Academy this fall that the school had earned the Apple Distinguished School designation for the fifth time. The technology company reserves this designation for programs that meet innovation, leadership, and educational excellence criteria and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments.

Grandparents Spend School Day with Grandchildren

What is a day in the life of a Jackson Academy student like? Grandparents were on campus Friday to find out during Upper School Grandparents Day. They studied American history with Dr. Dennis Conklin and learned about physics in action with science faculty member Stancie Ley.

Alums from 2008 View Fabulous 2022 Performance and Remember Their Own

Since day one, students at Jackson Academy have been challenged and thrilled with the 2022 production of “West Side Story.” The classic retelling of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” required vigorous choreography, dialect rehearsals, vocal training, educational sessions to introduce students to Puerto Rican culture, set building, and countless rehearsals.
