Dissection just got a lot cleaner. Instead of pinning a formaldehyde-soaked frog to a dissection pan, students in Cara Pridmore’s sixth grade science classes simply downloaded an application to their iPad. Froggipedia allows students to study the life cycle of a frog and dissect the amphibian using augmented reality.
Pridmore chose to use the application as a bridge between the concepts of animal anatomy and the work of an actual dissection. “The students had so much fun and loved it! … I had several ask me if they could do it again. I told them this will also help them learn the steps to dissecting real animals in the future, so they’ll be better prepared.”
